According to Ken Calvert, the shameful republican from SoCal who voted to reject the certification and support an insurrection, wants you to believe that he wants to solve the health care problem in the USA.
The real question is what does he think the problem is? Apparently, he thinks getting reasonably priced prescription drugs is not a problem. He voted to block insulin cost reductions. Yes, the proposed strategy is not ideal — but it’s a good place to start!
So, if prescription costs are not one thing that he cares about, let’s look at what he claims on his webpage.
First he writes, “With premiums rising, deductibles increasing, and health care choices decreasing, American families know all too well that Obamacare is collapsing.” Let’s be clear, the Republican Party to frame the ACA with the moniker as Obamacare is strategic to remind people that they (the GOP) failed to offer any valuable policy fix. I love how Calvert links ACA to the word collapsing. This is a joke. Where is the ACA been less successful? In rural counties, where the Republican Party has completely failed to address the issues of rural America, without providing any capacity to create alternative insurance options. Shame on them. Added to this, we have dozens of states who have sabotaged the ACA, for political show, has effectively undermined the health care for their residence.
What does Calvert have to do with this? By supporting these show-boat tactics, Calvert sides with the wealthy elite of Georgia, Texas, and Florida to further marginalize folks with real health care concerns. He’s despicable.
